Gm navigation disc
My point is, every single person who drives a car makes a bad choice at some point or is caught off guard by some kind of distraction.
Thats just a small bit and i could go on & on. "it only takes a second for something to happen", no radio (some people like to look down at their radio to yell at it for something they heard" or cell phones for the obvious reason.

no kids (parents like to stare in the rear view instead of the road, or better, reach back to slap them), no passengers (because driver always looks over to passenger at some point and you know what they, say. Technically, in order for a driver to be completely attentive while driving, there can be. Fact of the matter is, some of you are criticizing here for ones' personal choice to take responsibility for his\her own actions. I dont know one person in this world who completely drives responsible, and the few that might exist are the ones causing accidents because they are driving 10-20 under the speed limit, panic very easily or whatever. "Doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning" Wrong is wrong! Doesnt matter if the distraction is talking on the cell phone or glancing at a screen for a second. Especially if the mistake could have been prevented. Personable accountability is nice in that someone can admit "yes I screwed up and it's my fault" but think of how you would feel hearing that from a person that made a mistake and killed a loved one of yours.
It's not a personal safety thing like a motorcycle helmet. Distracted driving can affect your passengers and other vehicles around you. 02 again but personable responsibility comes into play when your "freedoms"Īffect other innocent people. (at least with a factory setup.) So yes it may be somewhat of a distraction for a split second but certainly nothing like a 2 hour movie. (I do that and it can get exciting at times.)Īs far as the NAV system is concerned that is one reason for the warning or lockout is that a driver should NOT be programing his NAV while driving but you can hear the directions and not need to study the screen. Maybe even try riding a motorcycle while those around you watch movies, talk on the phone etc.

02 but if driving is so boring that you need to watch a movie then maybe you should take more frequent rest breaks or quit driving. Think of this would you take your wife and kids out on the highway when you are legally drunk? Even if you are a "perfect driver" the policy some of you advocate would allow everyone to use their freedom and drive "drunk" so, How many "drunks" do you want your family to be on the road with? Driving distracted gives a person the reaction times and coordination of a drunk driver. Driving a vehicle is operating deadly force and should be treated as such.

if it is visible from the driver's seat and the vehicle is in motion.Īs far as safety issue I have seen many accidents caused by distracted drivers and we all complain about the dumb drivers distracted by cell phones. Another issue with a Lockpick use it that it's illegal in many states to watch a DVD,TV etc.
